I want to go platinum blonde! Can I do that in one appointment?Oh, all those icy blondes on Pinterest and Instagram…it’s stunning! What you don’t see, though, is the process of getting to that platinum tone. If you have dark hair, your stylist will need to lift several different tones out of your hair, which means you may first experience red tones, then orange, and yellow before finally getting to that lighter blonde. This will likely require a few appointments because, aside from making you uber happy, our stylist’s top priority is respecting the integrity of your hair. Which should also make you happy! When you come in for your appointment your stylist will lay out a realistic timeline for getting you the exact result you’re looking for, and if you want to know before that first appointment, you can set up a consultation with one of them!

I'm getting an updo, should I arrive at my appointment with clean hair?Yes! Clean, dry hair is ideal…we have the right styling products to add the grip we need to make sure your style lasts for your event. Remember to also bring any decorative clips/veil/hair pieces you want to include in the style, and wear a button- up or zip-up top to help avoid messing things up afterwards.

Why did my fashion color fade so quickly?Fashion color = All the colors of the rainbow that make our hair look like a mythical unicorn or mermaid. There are so many, and they’re SO PRETTY…but they fade quickly. They are what is called “direct dye” for temporary color, and the boldest of them can last 4-8 weeks with proper care. Thinking of going pastel? It’s a transparent color with a lifespan in your hair of 1-2 weeks. We will give you all the tips to maintain your color as long as possible, but if you’re considering a fashion color keep in mind it will require home maintenance and frequent visits to the salon.

Are all products created equal? This should be at the top of our FAQ’s, truthfully, because it is a great question and we love the opportunity to explain. The short answer: No. We understand that salon-grade and medical-grade products can be much pricier than those you can buy at drugstores, but there is a reason that is the case. Generally, the products that can be purchased at a store have a lot of “fluff” in them. More waxes, sulfates, and emollients that bulk up the volume of the product and create shine and suds, but these things also strip essential oils in your scalp and skin and leave a residue on the hair. For you skin, this means clogged pores, flakiness, and accelerating the aging process. For your hair? Flaky scalp, dry or “gummy” strands, and decreasing the longevity of your color by weeks, if not months. As professionals, we truly want the best for your hair and skin and try to equip you with the best tools to accomplish that, because when our clients are happy and getting the results they expected then we’re happy too!
